Course Description:

The course will be useful for health professionals including doctors & workers in Government as well as voluntary organizations, research scientist, Post graduate students of various colleges, managers etc. The course focuses on the principles of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, their practical applications for investigation of Public Health problems, Planning, Implementation and evaluation of intervention.The course also focuses on the practical application of computerized data collection tool – data entry – data validation – data analysis – data interpretation etc with help of latest software developed by international organizations.  This will be applicable for community or clinic based research in Health care sciences.At the end of course the participants will have the knowledge and background to develop, implement and promote policies and programs designed to improve the general health of the population.The participant will also be prepared to manage the complexities of public-private and political systems; and also to develop, implement, analyze and evaluate diverse health and health related policies and programs.

  • At the end of training programme the participants will have the knowledge and background to do simple as well as complex data analysis with relevant and meaningful interpretation in given situation. This will be very useful to implement and promote programs designed to improve the general health of the population.
  • The participant will also be prepared to manage the complexities of available information & factors affecting health and also to develop, implement, analyze and evaluate diverse health and health related programs based on scientific analysis, interpretation & evaluation of data.
  • The participant will be able carry out preliminary research in any field of science and education.
  • The participant will be able to start writing about methodology adopted for statistical analysis as will be able to describe the test of significance used in basic or applied research.

Real life case studies along with various exercises will be used for better understanding. Hands on experience with computer will enrich the learning. All the participants will have opportunities to interact & clarify doubt. Simple decision making flow charts will make subject very interesting & easy to understand.

The taste of EPI INFO software will work as appetizer & will motivate participants to work automatically in direction of program generation, tailor made data-entry software, statistical analysis, better decision making in day to day work etc. Other advance software will also be introduced for application in special situation. All participants are expected to bring their data sets for better understanding. We expect each participant to bring their laptops if possible. Otherwise    two participants can share one laptop.

Course material will be sent as soon as registration is done. This will enable participants to go through material in advance & will be able to participate with better involvement.


UG & PG students of Medical Colleges , Ayurved & Homeopathy colleges,  Other colleges (Physiotherapy, Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing )  Medical officers, Managers, Coordinators, Supervisors, health workers,  data managers , Statisticians,  Research Associates & Assistants, Scientist & Researcher.

Preparation by participants:  All participants are requested to bring formats & reports they are using at present. If one can bring his/her laptop, it will be very useful. Problems & queries in mind may be put on paper & should be sent by email or it can be handed over on first day of workshop. Regular Pranayam & yoga may be started at least a week before workshop to enhance concentration in study during workshop.

The course fee is Rs. 3300 per person. (Rs 8400 for group registration of three). Register before   31st Aug to avail advantage of all material in advance. Limited participants based on first come cum first basis. No spot registration. In case of valid reason for not participating 90 % fee will be refunded back.  The fee includes cost of study material, certificate, break-fast and lunch.

Duration :

3 days course is organized from 8th to 10th Sept 2017. Reporting time is 9:00 am on 8th June 2017. For participants coming on 7th evening should inform. Participants should be ready to work beyond 6 pm if required for practice.

Training Material:

Relevant course material will be sent in advance for all participants who will get register before 1th Sept 2017. Rest of the participants will be given at the workshop itself. All participants will get free software for data – analysis. Relevant books & material for photocopy will be available for display.  It is desirable that all participants should go through the material before the starting of course. This will enable better understanding at the time of training.

Certification:  At the end of satisfactory attendance of workshop, a certificate of participation will be awarded by PHD trust. Name in certificate will appear as per the registration form unless communicated for change in advance.
